Friends, brothers, people I have a passing acquaintance with.

JOIN THE AXE GANG! So commands the glorious leader! ME!

I'm joining the Marine Corps in March. I just decided.

My mother doesn't think I can manage it. Says I should join the Air Force, that they'll appreciate my intelligence more.

What the fuck is that supposed to mean? That only idiots join the marines? They're supposed to be a bunch of dumb ass knuckle draggers? Is that it?

So what if Uncle Brett went took his super brain to the Air Force? Didn't do him any good did it? Great guy, smart as fuck, but he's still bumming all his cash off his girlfriend at 50.

And besides, as similar as we are, he's a hard science kind a guy. I'm not.

Way I see it, as my life stands, I have no reason not to join the marines.

So what if boot camp is hard? Would it be worth the time if it was easy?

And to be honest, I absolutely hate the idea of being some limp wristed intellectual. Be an intellectual by all means, but at least be a useful intellectual.

Maybe I'll take some college acting classes.

... Plus, heh heh, a furry marine. I like the incongruity.
